In trying to find a way to relate Alex Gavin to a current precedent, I find myself stumped.
Gavin is unique in our own unique world—an underdog amongst underdogs. There seems an absence of quotes that relate to him, and analogies that would do him justice are slim. Maybe that’s just what it’s like when you grow up on a skateboard in Canada’s tight and distinctive little pocket of humanity known as Quebec—it’s different there. After all, the province is the underdog of our continent, and as such has always sparked my imagination. As for Alex Gavin, such a birthplace makes his mystique that much more interesting to me. However, questions remain. Gavin’s skating speaks volumes, but how does he really see the world?
