Jerry and the 'Gonz' Skate
Fashion / Skate
This is Jerry, squinting (he doesn't normally look this goofy). A local kid in my area (San Francisco East Bay region) who loves to skate and have fun doing it. Over the past couple years I've seen him get better and better, learning new tricks in a matter of a day then loosing them after a couple weeks. He had a mean switch frontside flip but it's gone the way of the stagecoach. Regardless the kid is good and getting better. He's also pretty straight up about shit he likes and doesn't like so he made a good impartial subject to review the shoes. Although he has skated in Adidas before so it wasn't a blind test. The worst part was getting him to speak up during the interview at the end, we did it a couple times and he still looked like he was talking to his shoulder. Watch the video.
The shoe:

'Gonz' Skate, the second colorway for this shoe.

It's called the Skate but it is basically a vulcanized Gazelle with a gum sole.

Mark Gonzales art on the insole; the printing wore away after a few session in my pair. Not unexpected just a little depressing to see him get smaller and smaller each day.

But this didn't go away, great little touches like this are what make Adidas the shoes and company they are. Nice one.

It was a fun two weeks of filming and driving to some local spots and finding new ones. Jerry dug the shoes and we got some decent footage out of the experience. Big thanks to George at Adidas for hooking up the shoes. Thanks Don! Also thanks to Yong-Ki at Solitary Arts for hooking Jerry up with a set of White Yokes.
