Tommy G. Indys

Life / Art / Skate

Tommy Guerrero aka Street Chicken aka Junk Collector; street skating pioneer, musician, co-founder of Deluxe Distribution, father and graphic designer has been skating for Independent Trucks longer than most of us have been alive and has contributed to skating in more ways than can be counted.

To honor his contributions Indy has released these signature designed Stage 11s.

109s, 149s and 159s (not pictured) are available at your local authorized dealer.

109s.

149s.

Simple yet with depth, each truck pays homage to the founders of the company with their initials, F.V. for Fausto Vitello and E.S. for Eric Swenson.

Check out our studio visit to his office at Krooked from a couple years ago.

Product Spotlight: Magenta/John Lindsay Guest Artist Deck

John Lindsay has a guest artist deck out for Magenta and it's in shops now. I helped John scan the art and he was kind enough to give me one for my wall (and one to skate)! Thanks again John. He's a well traveled and well mannered man with a great wife and a dog named Snoopy. He runs a clothing company, Sleeping Horse and if you haven't checked it out, you should. He screen prints all of the shirts himself. Also check out Magenta's Hill St. Blues 2 for a couple clips of John skating.

A quick clip of John from the first meeting of the Weekend Dougnut Crew in Richmond.

Detail of his collage work.

Made from scrap paper acquired during his trips to Japan and NYC.

Go to your local shop and pick one up today! Or hit up Theories of Atlantis for immediate satisfaction.

Static IV Teaser

Life / Film / Skate

Josh Stewart just dropped the first teaser for his finale of the Static series. Five years in the making it looks to have full parts from Jahmal Williams (Hopps), Quim Cardona and others. We can only guess that there will be footage of Magenta, Polar Skate Co. and Palace riders along with many east coast rippers.

Gravis - Creative Departures: Belgium

Fashion / Life / Film / Art / Skate

Gravis spent some time in the land of great beer and wonderful people, Belgium as part of their Creative Departures art show series. If this is the start, I'm looking forward to what they'll be coming up with in 2013!

"For our first Creative Departures stop this year, we chose to venture back to Antwerp, Belgium. It is a fitting stop for Gravis, as we have been deeply rooted in the community here for some time. Aside of sponsoring the Antwerp Pro/Am Skate Contest for the past few years, we have been making it a yearly pilgrimage for the skate team to come out to Belgium and the Netherlands. This year we filmed for a few days up the road in Rotterdam which proved to be eventful, visited some better known skate spots in Brussels, then rounded out the trip throwing a three day art show in Antwerp. The art show featured a mixture of Gravis artists and athletes as well as some local artists that were included to bring more of a family vibe to the show. Check out some of the skate spots, restaurants and other places we were hanging on the map below. And yes, there is a red light district in Antwerp. Stay tuned for the next Creative Departures show in Los Angeles this coming February, 2013.
