Mel and Travis at FFDG- Posted on: 30/06/2011
Artists are influenced by everyday things, from daily habits to the routine of the mailman on his stroll. For illustrators and painters sometimes they can creep into their work in subtle and subconscious ways. When two artists live together a certain amount of cross-contamination might happen and would be natural considering the close confines of modern habitats and apartment layout. For Mel Kadel and Travis Millard their studio and living space are the close quarters of an old cabin in the hills of Los Angeles. Surprisingly there is next to no noticeable influence between the two. They have their own identities, content, style and sense of humor that is reflected in their work. Their newest show at S.F.‘s Fecal Face Dot Gallery illustrates this and shows the progression of each individual.
