Day 1 - One Way or Another
Art / Skate
The One Way or Another road trip kicked off this past memorial day weekend, starting in Los Angeles where Isaac spent his Friday kidnapping artists and their work. Geoff McFetridge (above) was nice enough to do up a couple originals just in time for th show before he departed to France on the vacation he forgot all about.

Next stop was Girl Skateboards HQ's Art Dump.

Pnut and Andy Jenkins.

We all met up at HVW8 at 1pm artist time... so, like 3pm? Ya. Here Mat O'Brien and Travis Millard discuss the state of the world and contemporary art before lacing up their new shoes from Vans, piling into the Volcom van, and skaing til the sun goes down.

Michael Leon cruised through by to drop off his work for the show and say what's up. Unfortunately he couldn't join the tour due to some work. You don't get away with driving a Ferrari without a lot of hard work I guess.

Sam McGuire with artists Andrew Pommier, Michael Hsiung, Mat O'Brien and Donny Miller.

First order of business was getting everyone together. Then we hit the hills of Malibu where Etnies' Pierre Andre has a vacant lot where the pool and foundation was filled in for skating. On the edge of a cliff with view of the ocean, the sun burning down... we couldn't have a asked for a better place to start the tour.

While Andrew explained to Phil the delicacies of a proper thumb-pushed shotgun, Pocahontas appeared in the horizon. There's certainly some supernatural mystic powers happening in them hills that may have played a part in letting Michael Hsiung break open his first beer with his thumb. Maybe it was her furry boots?

Glad to have Phil and Mike on the tour.

The session wouldn't have been the same without Donny Miller, his guided tour of Beverly Hills and his construction worker approved ghetto blaster. After all the skating we headed to THIS gallery where Travis had some work and the grilled cheese truck came by to feed the lot. Down the street a ways, not far from Sam's house in Highland Park was Footsies bar where the Nuge, Daniel Shimizu and other guys who look like Michael Hsiung hang out. I even ran into my good ol' pal Jenny from back home. It was an awesome first day, but everyone was destroyed from skating all day.
The next morning we had a show to set up - stay posted for updates and photo from the LA show at HVW8.
