ONE WAY OR ANOTHER
Art
I recently joined Bob K and Andy Jenkins to co-curate this project with Contributor and Society 6.
You might recall Contributor from the "Smile On Your Brother" art show that traveled the country last year, raising money to send skateboards to underprivileged kids. This year the goal is much the same, but the concept is a little more complicated... don't let that scare you though because it very well could include you!
Building on the success of last year's group show “Smile On Your Brother” which featured the likes of Thomas Campbell, Matt Irving, Parra, and 50 more talented artists, “One Way Or Another” plays upon the personal nature of a skateboard.
Through Society6, we (a group which includes Annie Lam, Mike Giles, Bob Kronbauer, Sandro Grison, Andy Jenkins, and Justin Cooper (Society6) will be curating 25 artists/collectives from around the world to create original boards that will be sold through Contributor, with all proceeds going directly back to getting skateboards to kids across Canada. What makes this project unique is that rather than people buying a finished piece of your artwork, supporters will instead pre-purchase your time to make a board especially for them, so when it arrives it's an awesome surprise, kind of like a familiar chocolate with a hidden tasty center!

Deadline: April 23rd, 2010
