BLOWING UP

Art

a tip of the cap for Jeff Hamada as he and his art blog, BOOOOOOOM made headlines today with the National Post. Booooooom.com is a perfect example of doing something quite simple, very fucking well! A constant draw of inspiration for all of us at Color and a great place for artists to get their work seen. Bookmark it.

CITY OF EAST VAN'S FINEST

Film / Skate

I stumbled on this gem of a video this morning doing a little spring cleaning on the ye ol' laptop. It's Josh Kline's submission to 2008's Shoot To Thrill (digital) video contest and it stars Ontario Native turned East Van bad ass, Lee Saunders.

The video's even more bad ass when you consider they had to throw it all together within just 72 hours!

MIKAEL KENNEDY PHOTOGRAPHY

Art

Mikael Kennedy was first put on my radar a little over a year ago when we were saying goodbye to Polaroid film and taking notice of some of the more prolific photographers today using the medium including the Polaroid Kidd, featured in Color Magazine 5.3.

Peter Hay Halpert Gallery in New York City has recently taken on 500 Polaroids by Kennedy in a show titled "Shoot the Moon" which will go on display in early 2010. More information and the exact dates of the opening to be announced soon, but the photographer was recently interviewed about this project, so check it out here in Corduroy Magazine.
