STAY GOLD WORLD PREMIERE PHOTOS

Life / Art / Skate

Braydon and the Boss.

Thursday was insanity - Vancouver played host to the world premiere for Emerica's Stay Gold with over a thousand people lined up for hours to feast their eyes on this highly anticipated video. I was on my way to Montreal so Brent Goldsmith held down the shutter release... "Missed the first showing by 2 people in line, after a few more hours we were in." Click the jump for some pics.

left coast summer

Life / Music

Bob Dylan, Nico Case, Weezer, Hole, Drake, Japandroids...

If you missed Sasquatch, Toronto Island, and can't wait for Olio or Music Fest NW, well then this is the obvious one for you. What better way to call in the final days of summer than an outdoor music festival!? Bumbershoot is certainly on the top of our list of things to do too. One of the few festivals where you don't have to be an ex-raver to enjoy the whole thing and there's other stuff to do too like art exhibits, movies, theatre and comedic performances by Patton Oswalt and friends... Got kids? they have you covered there too!

I know this must sound like a sales pitch, but seriously, $40/day, really how could you/I resist?

HAVEN'T SLEPT IN WEEKS

Skate

I got to catch up with the Gone Trippin' posse today in Winnipeg. A lot of insane maneuvers and some good/creative product giveaways were had. I think Sheldon won it with this one.

ON RECORD - VANCOUVER GO SKATE DAY

Skate

Thanks to Supra Distribution and their in-house roster of Photographers and Filmers we got some timely footage and photos (above) to share from monday's ALL ABOARD event for Go Skateboarding Day.

But if that's not enough to hold you over until our premiere video drops next week, check out what Concrete cooked up here and Heart Films' video here.

It would have been impossible to capture all the tricks that went down yesterday, but expect some exquisitely artistic and thoughtful film work coming out of Vancouver and Toronto Go Skate Days this coming monday.

DAY 8 - OWOA SHOW AT ESCAPIST

Art

Pnut, Corey, Andrew, Isaac, Dan, Steve, Mike and Phil

You're going to get the full story in-print by Isaac, but let me just say Kansas City kicks major ass and it has a lot to do with guys like Sean Malto, Dan Askew, BBQ and shops like Escapist.

It's not just enough for Pnut to setup his pieces, he does up a fresh one-off on the wall and 12 pairs of custom Vans shoes. speaking of custom Vans... 'click click'

Fos, Todd and Pnut did some collab decks with Escapist prior to our arrival and they came out badd-fuckin-ass!! check em' out at the Escapist website.

Donny told me (in a personal conversation, because we're totally tight like that), that he was working on this piece and finished it the day he heard MJ passed away. Creepy huh? It's kind of like that scene in ET when the flowers die and that's how you know the homie might not make it back to his planet.

art by Jenkins

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this kid took apart, then set up a new board for Isaac, then got hooked the fuck up! YEaaaah!

Art by Todd Bratrud

Man of the hour - Kansas City's favorite skateboarding artist extrodinaire, Michael Sieben.

unwed and undead. It's true KC has a lot of females - and if the skaters were taking notes then they'll probably be thinking about picking up a sketchbook soon.

Click here for Days 1, 2, 3, 4, 5-7. Onward to Austin, TX's No Comply shop!

Day 5 to 7 - One Way Or Another road trip

Life / Art

On route to Grand Junction, Colorado it was important to captain McKay-Randozzi that everyone pay witness to Zion National Park in Utah.

This was a 6 hour drive in some dying heat. Dudes get delirious.

The rule "No shirt, no service" must apply in Utah. That would explain why Pnut probably picked up the front door mat and threw it over his naked abdomen.

Necessary refueling.

(Todd Bratrud) Necessary menu amendments. And back on the road to hit Denver on route to KC for the art opening at Escapist, Friday June 4th.

Peep game over at Todd Bratrud's tumblr page. Click here for Days 1, 2, 3 and 4. Onward to Kansas City's Escapist skate shop!
