NEW LIGHTNING BOLT!

Music

The best news I've heard all year: NEW LIGHTNING BOLT ALBUM! It's called Earthly Delights and it's out October 13th from Load Records. Lightning Bolt are one of the most awe-inspiring live band I've ever seen, true titans of mayhem, ultimate archnemeses of boredom and lethargy. If this new track below is any indication, they're ripping harder than ever. Rejoice, mortals!

Cocosuma - miracle man

Music
Miracle Man by Cocosuma by ThirdSideRecords

Honestly, I don't know much about French pop trio Cocosuma, but this catchy little pop jam is mega summery (enjoy it while you still can) and the video is great!

THE XX - CRYSTALIZED

Music

the xx-crystalised from kuakuak on Vimeo.

Trip-hop just got resurrected as a really young rock quartet from the UK. Watch carefully as The XX becomes immensely popular. People of widely diverse backgrounds will be putting this album on to have sex to. Sounds gross, I know, but sometimes that's what happens when a band is really good.

BLUES CONTROL - rest on water

Music

"Rest on Water" - Blues Control from whitetapas on Vimeo.

Here's the new video from the new, awesome, long-awaited Blues Control album, Local Flavour. "Rest On Water" is probably the album's most chilled-out track, described in the review in the forthcoming issue of Color as "a slow-motion air mattress drift across a neon ocean". It features acoustic guitar by man-of-the-moment Kurt Vile and saxophone by Jesse Trbovich, of Vile's backup band, The Violators. Very nice stuff.

THE BITTERS + WOODS

Music

The Bitters | "Warrior" from gorillavsbear.net on Vimeo.

The Captured Tracks label had a festival in Brooklyn last month. This video is Aerin Fogel of awesome Toronto band The Bitters (probably best known as a side project of Fucked Up) singing her band's best song, with Woods as the backup band. Pretty rad stuff. Look for a full-length by The Bitters coming soon-ish from Woodsist.

SURF ZOMBIES MUST CHILL

Music

Surf Zombies Must Chill from The Publics on Vimeo.

Vancouver resident Douglas Haddow (aka The Publics) did up this awesome video for dubstep/wonky mastermind Zomby's "Helter Skelter", with clips from assorted classic movies, including the infamous zombie vs. shark scene from Fulci's Zombi.

MAJOR LAZER - hold the line video

Music

Major Lazer - Hold The Line (Feat. Mr Lexx and Santigold) from Mad Decent on Vimeo.

While, I'm at it, might as well put up the video for the first single from Major Lazer's "Guns Don't Kill People...Lazers Do!". It's a couple months old, but it still rules. The ghetto 80's animation, GI-Joe style, is perfect. This one was directed by Ferry Gouw.
