TELEPATHE

Music

Remember when we profiled Telepathe back in issue 6.2 as part of our feature on new New York psychedelia? Well, we were just a little bit too far ahead of the curve. They're finally putting out their amazing debut, Dance Mother (produced by Dave Sitek of TV On the Radio) on IAMSOUND records next month. Get ready to watch them blow up like crazy. New tracks up on their myspace.

ODYN VOVK

Fashion
Odyn Vovk is total hipster black metal-wear for insanely wealthy guys who want to do the gothninja thing (ie Rick Owens, Ann Demeulemeester, everything they sell at Komakino) without looking lispy and limp-wristed. If, as the designer claims, this stuff is meant to be "worn hard", they should sponsor Deer Man of Dark Woods and get these leathers in some skate videos. Not that many skaters are likely to go blowing 2 g's on a leather jacket. Pic of an insane goatskin leather hoodie below. (pic via Blackbird, where you can buy it. Also available soon at Roden Gray in Vancouver.)

WILDBIRDS & PEACEDRUMS

Music
This swedish band is opening up for the fabulous Lykke Li on her tour next month (dates on their myspace), and they're one of those incredibly rare acts that's literally unclassifiable. You're left with your jaw hanging open saying, "I've never heard anything like this before." They're strictly vocals and drums, and with a voice as intense as Mariam Wallentin's, they really don't need anything else. She's got the pipes and presence to be a disco diva or a chart-busting singer/songwriter, but in this stripped-down setting, she's better than either. This is some crazy jazz-ballad art-punk with a streak of unfuckwithable blues soul. Video after the jump.

CHRISTMAS ISLAND

Music
Probably the best band in San Diego other than Wavves. All kinds of rad jams coming out on cool labels this year. Check them out at their myspace.
