We kicked off last weekend's Olio Festival by teaming up with BLVD Skate Shop, World Industries, DC, Alien Workshop and Shorty's for something we called SLAPPY DAYS at the golden mile in Vancouver. Small wheels... big pants... boombox... no finer way to spend a Friday evening in Vancouver.
The early days of street skating can be traced back to the shutting down of skateparks in the 80s. Those that were possessed to skate weren’t about to let that hold them back so they took to their neighbourhood parking lots and made use of the most plentiful resource they had… Curbs!
BLVD Skate Shop's Kevin Kelly has a certain affinity for this classic phenomenon and so, came up with this throwback session.
Kevin Kelly turned the PoPo's stern looks into smiles with his 90s get-up and attitude.
Rob Rickaby and a record setting 50-50. (Video evidence below)
Brett Gifford leans on this bluntslide, while Joe Buffalo just leans.
