The Predatory Manwolf Jean Jackets

This Sunday at Fortune Sound Club, catch an Olio Festival exhibit of international artists who have created their own rendition of the iconic Manwolfs back patch. The Manwolfs gang first came to light as characters from the cult classic film Machotaildrop (Directed by Corey Adams and Alex Craig) and that terrifying emblem has been showing up on skateboards and jean jackets all over the place ever since. Various Manwolfs jean vests will be on display with one-of-a-kind back patches from the likes of FOS, Natas Kaupas, Andrew Pommier and John Rattray, to name just a (very) select few.
I talked to Rattray yesterday on the phone, you know, the man behind our regular Predatory Word column, and here's what he had to say about his contribution:
In keeping with the wild spirit of anarchy that permeates the universe, Alex and Corey asked me to provide them with my interpretation of the infamous ManWolfs back patch; thus ‘The Predatory Man Wolf Bird’ came to be.
The Predatory Man Wolf Bird represents:
The parallels that exist between skate culture and gull culture, screaming gulls that steal greasy food, sinister gulls that surround baby seals, maniac gulls that have been submerged in bright-blue toxic sludge, the compulsion to skateboard and the evolution of the neurological mechanisms of substance abuse.
Sound heavy enough for ya? You should see his Predatory Bird blog ! Fortune is only a few blocks from Gastown, so why not head there and check out this show before you make your way over to Chronic Tacos for our 12Hr Film Festival premiere ?!
