Vote for Mike Christie's "The Beggar's Garden"
Michael Christie is in the running for a CBC Bookie Award and needs your help with voting. Last year, the longtime Color contributor and once Senior Editor published his collection The Beggar's Garden (Harper Collins) which not only garnered some much-deserved national praise, but landed Mike on the Scotiabank Giller Longlist. This, of course, is no small feat as the Giller list is about as prestigious as it comes for Canadian writers.
Despite coming up a bit short on taking home the prize, Mike is back for another kick at the awards can with a nomination for the 2nd Annual CBC Bookie Awards. If you haven't yet read The Beggar's Garden, I sincerely urge you to pick up a copy—the haunting and candid picture of Vancouver's DTES and the people who inhabit it is will certainly strike a chord for any reader.
And even of you haven't read it yet, you should still go here to vote for Mike, because someday you will read it and love it and be kicking yourself that you didn't cast that vote when you had the chance!
