The first annual Color Magazine Jamcouver contest went off this past saturday, during Olio Festival, to great success. Through some devine miracle the clouds were parted and the sun shone throughout the day.

With a packed field of some of Canada's best skateboard talent, all the obstacles received a critical dose of shred. Starting with the Girl skateboards 5ft quarter pipe to massive Girl logo wall ride, it didn't take long for bodies to fly. DC's Sascha Daley, Cameo, and Colin Nogue took care of most of the destruction but in the end Sheldon Meleshinski took the top trick prize with his melon grab wall ride to fakie after taking a bone crushing slam a couple tries before.
Cameo was up to his usual gimmicks on Quiksilvers mayan pyramid obstacle, launching both kickflip to backside tailslides and lipslides before taking the cake with his 360flip 5050 grind. Honourable mentions as well to Brett Stobbart for his unique ride on grind techniques and Cory Wilson for his mecca kickflip manual down the hubba.

Colin also took the VANS "OFF THE WALL" Best Trick in the Barrier Penta-Bowl with frontside ollie channel transfers to regular and to fakie. His general shredding all day, literally being amongst the few people able to skate the Penta-Bowl as it was intended, earned him his spot. Not to mention a show-stopping ollie into the arm of the Girl OG doll.
The Vans barrier bowl was by far the more difficult of obstacles to skate and the anguish of it all was showing in some of the skaters. Nick Moore didn't seem to have too much difficulty landing a handful of tricks including a lofty air to backside nose grind and lengthy hurricane grind across the barriers. Hats off have to go to Colin Nogue for his ultimate destruction of the bowl. Airing every corner and channel, and lines for days, he took best trick here by leaps and bounds.

Last but not least was the DC EastVan handrail and gap. Tricks were flying over down and across this so fast it was hard to keep up at times. Sascha Daley certainly made good use of both the gap and rail with both backside and frontside 360's down the gap, and a picture perfect fullcab to frontside boardslide down the rail. Other mentionable's include Derek Swaims nollie heel down the gap, Micky Papa got a kickflip crooked grind, and Chad Dickson rolled away with a casual noseblunt. Dane Pryds took the cake however with a 180 nosegrind and eventually Bennett grind (not pictured) which won him the SCION best trick of the day award.

All in all Jamcouver went off with a bang of skateboarding sending the crowd wild time and time again. Big thanks to all the sponsors who helped to put this on. Don't forget to take a look at all the photos and video below from the days event and stay tuned for info on JAMCOUVER 2012!

Supra Distribution Team Manager, Dane Collison, stands aside MVP Cameo Wilson to accept the coveted "Best Team" prize

Once the contest was through, mother nature closed it's doors too and skaters found shelter in the Waldorf Hotel lounge while judges Wade Desarmo, Wade Fyfe, Gordon Nicholas and Mike Quesnel tallied up their scores.

10 winners and runners-up got to take home a one-of-kind Awards Plaque deck made by local Folk Skateboards with engraved baseplates and were greeted by Emcee Cyrus Thiedeke and the vocal stylings of Wade Fyfe.

Landon Stirling sneaked a peek of the Jamcouver ramps and smuggled out this little gem of photographic evidence featuring Jamie Maley. These obstacles are from another world consisting of the DC East Van Rail, The All Seeing Eye Pyramid from Quiksilver, a Girl Quarter Doll, and a mighty Pentagon Bowl with extension from Vans.

Rookie Toy Machine pro, Colin Provost skates the hell out of this mini ramp.
