"SKATEBOARDING NEEDS THERAPY"

Print / Film / Skate

A couple issues back we did this feature on 'used-to-be' defunct skateboard magazine from the early 90s called Poweredge. While they gear up for a big relaunch they have a movie trailer up that begs the question, "Where is skateboarding going?". THere's a tall list of skaters offering their ideas, but among them are Andy Mac, Greg Lutzka, Dayne Brummet and Willy Santos... So you know... it's a bright future ahead, right?  But seriously there's some solid dudes in there for sure. click above and check out the trailer.

Twitter-Touring: Gravis re-invents the product launch

When I was a kid and my favorite team came to town, we would stalk the tour van and follow it down the highway to its next stop. But times they-are-a-changin’ and Gravis Footwear has taken the skateboard tour to a new level.

On February 6th and 7th, Gravis will be hitting the road in Southern California to promote the release of its latest Arto and Arto LX shoe models. Starting in San Diego, team riders Arto Saari , Dylan Rieder, Sammy Winter , and Steve Forstner will be working their way up the coast, and allowing you to track their whereabouts on Twitter. By following the team's postings, you will be updated on their movements as they make their way through your favorite skateparks, shops, and spots, signing autographs and thowing down huge tricks along the way.  The tour ends on February 7th with an epic BBQ somewhere in Los Angeles.

Gone may be the days of highway stalking, but with mobile phone updates available through twitter, this new touring trend may prove to be just as fun.

SHENZHEN-AGAIN

Life / Skate

Kevin Lowry, Stacy Gabriel, Max Fine, Geoff Dermer, Derek Swaim, Will, Cory Wilson, Jordan Mayfield.

"China again? I know most of you are thinking that, but not for this crew. Most of  the guys on this trip haven't ever left north america so this is a big trip for them. After months of planning and coaxing our guide (Will) to come with us for the entire month we are finally out of the bad weather that  Canada  has  to offer this winter. It took most of us over 24 hours  to get here , we slept for 3 hours  and then hit 3 skate spots right away!! The warm up is a shock  as most of our crew really haven't skated for 2 months, our bodies are sore! I'll save all the eating dog, snake and party stories for future posts, but for now  enjoy a  couple photos." —Brian Caissie

The china version of sleeping in the dog house  is  towing your wife around for the community to see. just kidding.

This is what  a 24hr day looks like at the airport.

The arctechure of China is outrageous, some of the best designs in the world. They're even making buildings that spin next year?
