SAT AT COACHELLA

Music

it was 97 degrees yesterday here in the indio desert. if i was a weather lady the only way i could describe the heat would be to say that it is fucking hot. the heat makes my mind mushy so i can't think of a better description. here was saturday at coachella.

This is how you get to the venue, herded along in a fenced in corridor. moooooo.

BLITZEN TRAPPER from Portland. I'd never seen them before, but their set was so good it made me forget about the most painfully long and annoying sound cheque ever. WARNING...kind of alt-country-ish. see below for some video.

MICHAEL FRANTI on the main stage. He is someone who i would never sit and listen too, but his show is so insanely high energy that everyone couldn't help but getting into it. maybe being in the partial shade in the beer garden helped a little too.

FLEET FOXES. Kind of disappointed at this show, but not because of the band's performance. Theivery Corporation was playing at the main stage and i could hear them better than the lovely harmonies supposedly coming from the band i actually wanted to listen too. poor planning by the festival.

We had a wander through a bunch of tents and caught pieces of a couple shows. This was the Jr.Boys.

Had a little dance party with Crookers and a couple thousand of our closest friends...

Then switched it up a little and cooled down with BAND OF HORSES on the outdoor stage.

Then it was time for MIA who filled in for an absent Amy Winehouse on the main stage. The show started off promisingly, but...

unfortunately her set sounded like someone had pulled up beside us in a car and was blasting her out their windows. then she decided to call audience members up on stage, 'cause it worked so well last year. Because of all her blabbing she ended up only playing 5 or 6 songs and she sounded like crap. booooooo.

eventually the day ended as it began. one more day to go.
