We got a couple of entries to our Where the Wild Things Are postcard contest, but the mail that traveled the farthest is this winner. Congratulations to Jimmy and his friend Kendra for this postcard that made it all the way to South Africa and back to us. Jimmy wins a stack of wild things decks signed by Spike himself.

another entry came to us from Lori D. Unfortunately the card didn't travel quite as far as SAfrica, but we still loved the personal message.
Went to check out the Light Bar in Blood Alley this weekend. The space features a full light spectrum installation, a bar with tasty drinks that come with a dose of vitamin D and plays host to a bunch of different events until the end of March. It is just one of the many venues in the Bright Lights project that are scattered around Vancouver.

Just unloaded a couple of boxes fresh from the printer. The only spot to get your hands on a copy is tonight in Vancouver at the Bourbon (50 Cordova). If you're lucky and you know the right people you might even get a free tee. See you tonight.

A nice offshoot of the Olympics is all the artsy stuff that the city has put money into so that we can be cultured, olympics style. Last night i went to The Candahar on Granville Island. The gist of the place is that its a working bar modeled after a pub in Belfast, but its also a piece of performance art. Art that gives you booze with an Irish accent.
Authour Lee Henderson did a little reading for the crowd and talked about his book The Man Game. Then I learned what a harmonium is when the Allport Trio took the stage. And then I had another pint. Culture is yummy.

gotta' love the return of the back-graphic. These'll be at the Vancouver 8.1 release party and some will be kicking around the city before then. Up for sale on the site soon.

Heres your chance to see the large sounds of High on Fire in a small venue. Thanks to Volcom they're coming through the city with ASG and Kandi Coded on Wednesday at the Biltmore.
This is where all the good stuff happens, where Dave works his magic. Here he is with his ladies working on one of the features for next issue. Magic.

Like it or not, the Olympics are pretty much here. Security is tight, the international media is swarming the city and athletes are arriving this week. Everywhere i look seems to be covered in eye-insulting lime green and bright blue graphics and horribly mutated "westcoast" monsters. Do you folks outside of Vancouver care? Do you want us to blog what we'll be inundated with in the upcoming weeks, from protests to drunken tourists?
