MICKY PAPA HAS A POSSE

Film / Skate
d. money, spenny, and micky whilst filming for City Of New Lights [ o ] nigelsky
What was your biggest challenge filming for this video? It's been really hard to film so much lately, because I have upcoming parts in so many videos. So I try to balance out all of them so I can have strong parts in each and everyone. I'm currently filming for Digital, RDS, and a section in the DC am video along side of course City of New Lights.
What was your biggest triumph and why? For this part I tried to showcase tricks that are more unexpected from me. I tried to add a little bit of flavour to the mix! Out of all starring skaters in this film, who do you think has the most interesting personality and why? Of Course I would have to say Arte Lew, If I didn't find him to be one interesting intelectual and one hell of a funny motha fucka why would we be best friends!? What is going to make this video different than others? I think this video just has a lot of different up and coming talent, that is going to blow away the viewers. Watch out for Arte's part, this guy has some serious shit. Combined with Jarvis's classy filming style, you have a deadly combination! Whose part do you think will have the biggest impact and why? I said it before and I'll say it again, Arte will blow minds. I've seen some shit...
Micky and Montie obviously got something to celebrate [ o ] nigelsky

This clip is very sick. Perhaps one of the best 360 flips ever?

THIS DUDE IS RAD

Music

This dude totally destroys everyone on some British talent TV show. I like how he looks like he doesn't know what the hell he's doing but then he blows minds.

CROUCHBOARDING AT ITS FINEST... FROM RUSSIA

Skate

Just came across this clip. This dude is insane! Did he just master skateboarding to such degree in Russia that he got bored? Check the spot at 4:42 in the rain... I challenge thee to successfully recreate this "foot flip to one-footed quarterpipe roll back", in th rain no less. It's technically amazing.

SAM JAMES MAKING HEADLINES

While not all of us are familiar with the name Sam James, if you love coffee and visiting coffee shops, his name is one you should know. Sam was one of the guys who initially helped put Manic Coffee on the map, and subsequently, into the pages of Color awhile back in a Faces N'Spaces. But all this is just details; Sam has also actually won the distinction of being the best barrista in all of Toronto.

James is now making more waves: opening his own high-end coffee shop on Harbord St. in Toronto, and it's proudly named the "Sam James Coffee Bar". He was also the focus of this large recent peice in the National Post. Way to rip shit hard Sam!

New to the Stereo team is Josiah Gatlyn, seen here in his Berrics Recruits video.

Hats off to this man's unique ability to keep me interested and wanting more. Time for a beer, then a skate, then a beer again, thanks to this homeboy...

RIP ALCATRAZ SKATES

Skate

It's the end of an era for Toronto-area skateboarders...

Alcatraz Skateshop, which began from humble beginnings in the city of Oshawa, recently shut its doors after a history spanning more than ten years, citing economic troubles caused by the recent financial downturn.

Throughout its history, Alcatraz put out two full-length skate videos, produced TV commercials that played right alongside after-school Simpsons episodes, had a very large and talented team, and helped getting two public skateparks built in the area.

Moreover, skaters like Rob Piontek, Jordan Bandula, Glencoe Hogle, Clement Lush, myself and many others called Alcatraz home for many years. The shop was founded and owned by Oshawa-native, Jason King, and managed by the ever-comical Jeff MacDonald, a long-time Oshawa skater.

If you have a chance, browse their site, which is still up but not updated: www.alcatrazskates.com

VERT RAMPS

Skate

I'm currently in Japan right now and there is a sick skatepark 10 minutes from me; right on the beach. What's more, it's got a fully functioning vert ramp. Looks like it's time to work on my FS ollies a la Jason Jesse.

MAN SAVES BEAR

I saw this in the news recently: a conservation officer recently gave CPR to a bear in Prince George, B.C. and saved it's life. However, the officer didn't have to go "all the way" (mouth to mouth), as the bear began breathing again after performing chest compressions. After being recescutated, the bear hopped along back into the forest. Insane. Check it out here:
