Cut 'n' Color at PPC

Life / Art

Like many retail and service spots in S.F. the Pretty Pretty Collective is something much more than just a normal hair salon. In this video, you get a good idea of the multilayer concept behind this great spot and their current art show.

Check out this sick video from Don't Sleep Productions.

It was shot and edited within 72 hours for the Telus 72 hour film festival.

Zach Hill for Altamont

Fashion / Film / Art / Music / Skate

Altamont apparel has added musician Zach Hill to their roster of contributors. As part of what some call a "math rock" band, Hella he created a rhythmic polygon of insanity. Looking forward to what he and Altamont come up with!

Russell Oliver, he ain't...

Life / Art

With a long history of friendship with pretty much everyone at Color, from his years spent in Vancouver and childhood in Toronto's westend, we're all bummed we can't be in Toronto on Thursday night to attend the opening of Niall McClelland's Highest Prices Paid for Gold at the Clint Roenisch Gallery, his first solo show under the gallery's representation. From the looks of it, this is going to be a major night of art and dark psychedelia in the city.

"We are pleased to present Niall McClelland's first solo show with the gallery. The exhibition will contain all new works including the Tapestries, Skins and Stains for which he has begun to gather critical interest in Canada and the United States. McClelland was included, along with Jeremy Jansen, Ellsworth Kelly and Richard Serra, in the group show Black To Back And Light at CR in 2009. Of that exhibition the Globe and Mail surmised that "..the works of Jansen and McClelland are plenty gritty enough to hold up against the Serras and the Kelly. Indeed they demonstrate the same kind of uncompromising bravura." McClelland (b.1980), grew up in Toronto, spent many of his summers in Northern Ireland, went to school in Vancouver and eight years later returned to Toronto where he now lives."

Someone do us a favour and have a whiskey with him on our behalf. We're proud of ya, Niall!
