The winters grip is loosening with spring just around the corner. Skating coastal winter streets to work calls for bigger rolling equipment, but don't be placing that over-sized shred stick in the closet just yet. Krooked and BLVD skateshop have teamed up to bring you the Krooked Krooze-In Jam/BBQ, the first outdoor skate event of the year, which offers you the chance to showcase those well honed point A to point B cruiser skills. March 12th at the Queensborough skatepark, the event will feature high jumps, bank slalom, barrel jumps, speed trials, a BBQ and much much more!

One Distribution, home of KR3W Denim Co. and Supra Footwear, announces the opening of a unique branded retail space curated in the basement of famed London-based skate shop, Slam City Skates. Branded ONE at Slam City Skates, the space not only represents the first global retail initiative from One Distribution, but a historically significant foray into what was once the home of legendary UK vinyl shop, Rough Trade Records.
In homage of the basement's musical heritage and Slam City's quarter-century commitment to London skateboarding, ONE at Slam City Skates will be designed and curated to reflect the space's history and cultural relevance. “It’s a great honor to work with Slam City Skates in utilizing such a historic location,” says One Distribution Director of international Marketing Axel Pauporté. “With memorabilia from the iconic label still on the walls, the place is an amazing fit for both our brands. We integrated some of the Space’s history into our build; not just for looks, but to allow the fans to come and revisit its heritage.”
During its one-year lease, One Distribution will also produce several unique products that speak to Slam City's 25-year history as one of London’s most respected skateboard retailers. ONE will officially launch on Saturday February 26, 2011 with a grand opening celebration featuring a skate celebrity guest list that includes Chad Muska, Terry Kennedy, Stevie Williams, Ali Boulala, and Tom Penny as well as many esteemed local Londoners. The celebration will continue at The Stag's Head and will feature music from DJ Robbie Furze from the Big Pink, Bitches of Eastwick, Turbogeist, and PWBC.

I'm not much of a shoe-head but when I heard Lakai was re-doing the Manchester I did do a little dance of joy. I was a fan of the original, having skated several pairs over the years. During a visit to Girl I once considered throwing one of the shoes I was wearing (a black and gum Manchester, of course) at Kelly Bird and Rick Howard after I heard it was being cut from the Lakai catalog. I'm not a violent person but for some reason I took it personal.
